upfront
commissions fund association initiatives
that directly benefit you—advocating on
your behalf on Capitol Hill and before
state legislatures, fighting onerous
regulations such as that which is
looming under the TCPA, developing
compliance resources and carrying out
public relations activities.
When you buy an insurance policy or
a bond from your local agent, the
royalties and commissions earned on the
sale of that policy or bond go directly to
benefit the agent. When you buy an
insurance policy or bond from CIA, the
same royalties and commissions that
would have gone to the agent now go to
ACA and account for 17. 7 percent of

ACA International’s revenue. If the
association didn’t sell insurance and
bonds, member dues would need to
increase about 40 percent to continue
funding the association’s current
activities.
Travelers Insurance has been
extremely supportive of our industry as
well. In April, ACA announced its first
convention scholarship program.
Thanks to a sponsorship by Travelers,
nine ACA members will receive full or
partial financial assistance to cover the
registration fee or airfare to attend
ACA’s 71st Annual Convention and
Exposition in Washington, D.C., in July.
ACA members are fortunate to have
Travelers on their side.
If you don’t currently purchase
insurance and bonds from CIA, I
encourage you to contact Dereck
Tessmer at + 1(952) 928-8000, ext. 224,
or tessmer@acainternational.org, to learn
more. Join fellow members who are
already protected by the finest coverage
available, and you too will have one less
thing to worry about. cm
